Do you have the feeling that what you missed if the best you ever had?

I just turned 37 and still single. I could not help thinking about a guy from college. He was crazy about me, but at that time, I was headstrong about going abroad after graduation and we lost touch. When I was in 20s, I was stupid to think there was plenty of chances to meet somebody like him. Recently, I moved back to my home country, and finally got back in touch with him. He told me he asked a common friend forward me many mails he wrote to me, but I never received them. We finally figured out the friend simply didn't do it. Now, he is married with kid. We all felt sad. After all these years searching for Mr Right, I finally realized though he is not tall or handsome, he is the guy that was built for me. Both of us are so sad but there is nothing we could do to change what have happened. I told my mom about this, she said that means we were not ment for each other. Marriage is all about luck. Do you think so?
