What is a decent floor cleaner?

I have always used a little dish soap in 1 gal water. I don't care about shine and have linoleum. Just want it clean. Currently I rent the house and it was in pretty bad shape to begin with. I just want to make sure that using dish soap is a good idea. Is there a better floor cleaner? Anything I can mix together myself and use?
