What should be the fate of the filibuster?

I think that they should return to what they did in the past, that is the senators who want to filibuster must actually filibuster by continuously talking in 24 hr secession 7 day a week until either they wear out or the majority gives in. This would preserve the ability to block bills that they have strong and deeply felt objections to, but would make them look ridiculouss when used just to be obstructive.
